This is an exciting opportunity to join The Moorings, working in the British Virgin Islands, providing an efficient, fast, professional, and courteous service to all guests. Working across multiple outlets as part of the Food and Beverage team, you will be interacting day to day with a large number of guests including holiday makers from across the globe. Working in this busy resort, teamwork and flexibility are essential to ensure operations run efficiently and that guests leave feeling that they received a 5-star service.
What you will be doing:
Working between multiple restaurants across The Moorings resort, adapting to different menus in different outlets.
Prepare, cook, and present tasteful dishes as per the assigned menu in a timely fashion and work with the kitchen team to ensure consistent delivery.
Supporting with cooking of individual meals as per order and making large dishes to accommodate buffet style service and large group events.
Supporting with the receipt of deliveries, efficient storage, and stock rotation to avoid waste.
Cater for special dietary requirements as and when required, sometimes at short notice.
Lead by example and advise the kitchen assistants to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
Daily cleaning duties to maintain outstanding standards of hygiene in the kitchen and storage areas. Ensure a detailed clean down is completed after each food service.
Support with regular deep cleans of the kitchen, fridges, freezers, and all associated food preparation/storage areas.
Ensuring safe food handling and adherence to health and safety processes across the kitchen team.
Support with completion of any relevant paperwork as advised by the Chef’s or managers.
Covering kitchen service in the absence of the Chef.
The ideal candidate will have the following:
Experience as a cook in a high-level establishment
A well-organised, professional working style with the ability to prioritise tasks accordingly
Some culinary training is required, and the ability to cook many cuisines
Friendly, empathic, and a happy, smiley personality
Passionate about working in a kitchen environment and for a growing, reputable travel company
A curiosity about developing own culinary skills
A great teammate with the ability to work proactively and in a friendly manner with others, happy to take direction from superiors and adhere to it
Experience working with health and safety practices and procedures
Outstanding standards of cleanliness and hygiene on both a personal and professional level
A flexible approach to supporting, a wide variety of tasks
Availability to work weekends, public holidays, and shift work as the need arises, including evenings
