As a Charter Captain, you will be essential in providing outstanding guest experience onboard our yachts, power and sailing catamarans. Key responsibilities will include delivering exceptional customer service, ensuring safe navigation, and conducting safety briefings with guests. You’ll also work closely with the technical team to resolve any onboard issues.
Working hours vary, and you MUST be flexible to operational requirements.
What you will be doing:
Oversee the day-to-day management of the vessel, guests, and crew to ensure safety and efficient yacht operation during the charter.
Safely pilot, navigate, anchor, and operate the yacht at all times, adhering to high safety standards.
Maintain technical and general aspects of the yacht, reporting any issues promptly to the technical manager, and keeping detailed logs.
Support with boat movement (between bases) as required along with other base activity including boat briefings, customer service, dock support etc.
Greet clients, facilitate boarding, and provide a comprehensive safety briefing along with relevant yacht information.
Act as a host for the charter party, organizing activities, excursions, and offering local insights.
Provide basic instruction for activities such as snorkeling, kayaking, and stand-up paddleboarding.
Ensure the safe use of the tender, including ferrying guests and facilitating water sports.
Maintain the yacht's cleanliness during the charter, meeting The Moorings' high standards.
Ensure the yacht is left in good condition after the charter, report technical issues, and handle cash floats responsibly.
Report any incidents during the charter promptly to the manager.
The ideal candidate will have the following:
Bahamas A Class Captain's License.
Right to work in Bahamas.
Valid STCW.
Valid medical check (ENG1 or equivalent).
Previous experience as a captain on similar sized yachts is required.
Able to swim and competent in the water.
High level of awareness of the importance of safety when responsible for clients, crew, and the vessel.
Customer service experience with the ability to communicate with clients at all levels and in a professional manner.
Technical experience on similar sized yachts and systems. The ability to fix issues as they arise during charter and complete routine and preventative maintenance on R&C Leopard catamarans between 45-50ft - willingness to learn from skilled members of the technical support team, and complete relevant training when necessary.
Experience managing guests in and around a tender in a safe and controlled manner.
Strong with digital platforms and ability to use an online fleet maintenance system.
Verbal and written communication skills.
Flexible and can-do attitude.
